Nami represents a change in the industry, where anyone can create a footwear brand from nothing using Zellerfeld’s printing technology to create fully recyclable, custom fitted 3D printed sneakers. With the cost of traditional manufacturing almost impossible for anyone to get into without outside investment, Zellerfeld offers an alternative route with no upfront costs and a pricing strategy where the designer and manufacturer split the profits, in favour of the creator in a hope to democratise footwear. Completely eliminating cost risks allows for designers to take more risk in design to bring unseen footwear design to a market saturated by styles that our parents used to wear.
Nami is inspired by the way water ripples and with a strong emphasis on asymmetry, which helped create the visuals for the texturing on the shoe. Throughout the process we used many free software’s to create our product and marketing.
